Here we have provided information regarding the contest for the crews, trustees, family and supporters!

  1. What are the contest dates?
    The Parade and opening ceremony will be on Friday 20th late afternoon/ early evening. The contest will start on morning of Saturday 21st July and finish will finish Saturday 28th in the afternoon.
  2. When is the accommodation available for the crews?
    The on site accommodation will be available from the morning of Thursday 19th until Sunday 29th July.
  3. What is the location of the contest?
    Antrim boat Club, 14A Castle Road, Antrim BT41 4NA
  4. What is the accommodation like for the crews?
    Large tents with floors, divided into sections, one for each team. There will be space for team leaders and events committee in this accommodation. Please bring airbeds and sleeping bags as these will not be provided. There will be limited space for small family tents. .
  5. When are meals available for crews and events committee?
    Meals will begin with Lunch on Thursday 19th July and end with breakfast on Sunday 29th July. There will be three meals provided per day.
  6. Is there off site accommodation?
    This must be organised yourself. Six Mile Water Caravan Park. This site is directly across the river from the boat club where the contest is being held. Book early it is very popular. Hotels, guest houses and self catering Links are to the right.
  7. Do you drink your water?
    Yes, our tap water is safe to drink.
  8. What is your electric like?
    We use a plug with three square pins. They are 240 volts. There will be a number of charging points available. The Boat Club also has Wifi.
  9. Are there shops nearby?
    The nearest supermarkets (Asda and Lidl) are at “Junction One” across the main road from the boat club, approx. 1 Km away. Tesco and other local shops are in Antrim town 2 Km.
  10. What money do you use?
    We use British Pounds GBP. Euro are not accepted. There are 24 hr cash machines at ASDA and LIDL and many other locations nearby.
  11. Where can I wash my clothes?
    Automatic coin operated Launderette machines are at Nicholl’s Petrol Station at Junction One, approx. 2Km. There is no facilities at Antrim Boat Club.
  12. Is there a chandlery?
    There is no chandlery in Antrim. The nearest/ best is in Belfast approx. 40km. Down Marine - 163 Comber Road Belfast BT16 2BU 00442890480247
  13. What is the weather like in Northern Ireland?
    This is N Ireland. The weather is unpredictable. Average temperatures range from 10 to 20 C. It can be hotter or colder. The wind can range from 0 to 30 knots depending on the weather. It will rain!!
  14. Is there a hospital?
    There is a hospital in Antrim with an Emergency Department approx. 5 Km. Its called Antrim Area Hospital.
  15. Will there be entertainment at the contest?
    We will be having the “talent night “ early in the week so please have your “piece” ready when you arrive. Please bring music from your country that we can play one evening. Other evenings entertainment will be provided. You must be 18 to buy or consume alcohol. We will operate the usual wrist band system for this.
